According to Jauhar, the new leadership has inherited a challenging environment and is now tasked with implementing the necessary structural and governance reforms to align with international standards.

The newly elected board has been proactive in its communication with the ICC, submitting a corrective and preventative action plan. Independent Oversight and Corruption Investigations

Beyond administrative reforms, the board faces a complex legal and ethical landscape. Cricket Canada is currently under the shadow of ongoing corruption investigations by the ICC’s anti-corruption unit. One investigation centers on a T20 World Cup match against New Zealand, while another pertains to leaked audio recordings from former coach Khurram Chohan. In these recordings, Chohan alleged that former board members exerted pressure on him to select specific players, raising serious questions about the integrity of the team’s selection process.

To address these systemic concerns, Cricket Canada has established an independent committee chaired by lawyer Dasha Peregoudova. This committee has been granted unrestricted access to all financial records, personnel, and documentation. Their mandate is aggressive: to provide interim recommendations within two weeks and a comprehensive report within 45 days. This transparent approach is intended to signal to the ICC that the current administration is serious about accountability.
