Ishan Kishan’s Financial Help To Teammate Leaked – Ishan Kishan’s Generous Gesture: Helping Teammate Sakib Hussain in IPL 2026
A Heartwarming Tale from the IPL 2026 Season
In the high-stakes, high-pressure environment of the Indian Premier League, stories of individual brilliance often dominate the headlines. However, amidst the glitz and glamour of the 2026 season, a quiet act of kindness from Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Ishan Kishan towards a teammate has captured the hearts of fans across the country. The story of rookie pacer Sakib Hussain and his mentor figure, Ishan Kishan, serves as a powerful reminder of the human side of professional sports.
The Struggle Behind the Success
Sakib Hussain, a promising right-arm pacer, made his much-anticipated IPL debut for the Sunrisers this year. With an impressive tally of 15 wickets in 11 matches, Hussain quickly established himself as a contender for the ‘Emerging Player’ title. Yet, behind the bright lights and the successful debut lay a history of significant financial struggle.
In a candid interview with ESPNCricinfo, Hussain opened up about the hardships he faced before reaching the big league. He revealed that for a long time, he could not afford professional cricket footwear. Instead, he relied on cheap, roadside alternatives that cost between ₹200 and ₹300. These shoes were not designed for the rigors of professional cricket; they would tear frequently, leading to a lack of grip and resulting in recurring ankle injuries.
Hussain noted, “There was a time I did not have any shoes. I couldn’t even think about owning a pair of shoes that expensive. The sole would tear. Without spikes, my foot kept slipping and my ankles got sprained many times.”
Ishan Kishan Steps In
Recognizing the talent and the genuine struggle of his young teammate, Ishan Kishan, who led the side admirably in the absence of Pat Cummins, decided to intervene. Kishan, who hails from Bihar—the same state as Hussain—understood the challenges of coming from a humble background to reach the pinnacle of Indian cricket. Kishan provided Hussain with six to seven pairs of high-quality spike shoes, each valued between ₹12,000 and ₹15,000.
“I have 6 pair of spikes, currently. Ishan Bhaiya got them for me. Ishan told me he will get spikes for me and I told him Adipower from Adidas. So full season, I have been playing with the spikes he only got me,” a grateful Hussain shared.
Kishan’s Prolific 2026 Campaign
Beyond his mentorship off the field, Ishan Kishan enjoyed his most successful IPL season to date. Throughout the 2026 edition, Kishan amassed 602 runs in 15 appearances, maintaining an impressive average of 40.13. His season was defined by his aggressive batting, highlighted by six half-centuries and 32 massive sixes. It was the first time in his career that he crossed the 600-run threshold in a single IPL cycle, proving his mettle as a consistent and destructive top-order batter.
The End of the Road for SRH
Despite the individual brilliance of players like Kishan and the emergence of talents like Hussain, the Sunrisers Hyderabad campaign eventually concluded in the playoffs. In a high-intensity Eliminator match against the Rajasthan Royals in Chandigarh, the team faced a tough challenge.
Batting first, the Rajasthan Royals posted a daunting target of 243, propelled by a blistering 97 off just 29 balls from Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and a supporting half-century from Dhruv Jurel. Under the immense pressure of the run chase, the SRH batting lineup struggled to find momentum. Despite efforts from Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Reddy, the team was bowled out for 196, falling 47 runs short. While the result was disappointing for the Hyderabad faithful, the culture of support and mentorship cultivated by leaders like Kishan remains a positive takeaway for the franchise as they look toward future seasons.
